From tech sales to pro triathlete

Not the what-if guy.

I built a career in tech sales, with a short adventure in law along the way. At 30 I discovered endurance sport — and fell for it completely. I learned to swim, ran my first marathon and found my way to triathlon.

In 2026 I left my job to find out how far I could really go. The Final Push became more than an idea: it became my everyday life.

Now, at 34, my pro licence for 2027 is approved. The next chapter is about earning my place in the pro field.

It's never too late.

2027 season – first pro year

From pro licence
to pro field.

My first professional season: five to six races, a focus on 70.3 and one full distance at Challenge Almere. The goal is to build experience and compete for top-10 finishes.

A clear plan for every discipline.

Swim

70.3 · 30 min → 26–27 min

I'm working one-on-one with Richard Varga, widely regarded as the best swimmer triathlon has ever seen. Training with him is a privilege. Together we follow a clear plan to build my swimming capacity, with winter sessions and a camp in Gran Canaria, so I leave the water with the main pack.

Bike

70.3 · 323 W → 338–343 W

Over the 90 km of a 70.3 I currently average 323 watts at 73 kg. The plan for next year adds another 15–20 watts.

Run

70.3 · 1:14 → 1:10–1:12

My current half marathon in a 70.3 is 1:14. A focused build brings it down to 1:10–1:12.

Together, these gains set me up to be truly competitive in the pro field next season.
